FAQ

How do I rent the theatre?

Hollywood Theatre is a 7800+ sq. ft. art-deco designed classic movie theatre built in 1934-/35 and now re-imagined as a flexible arts and entertainment space featuring a technical infrastructure unrivalled in Vancouver with both a large main level auditorium and mezzanine. We are available as a location rental for TV & FIlm productions and for special events. For all inquiries please email David Hawkes at: booking@hollywoodtheatre.ca

What is the capacity?

Our capacity is determined by which rooms are being used as well as the seating/event configuration. Please call or email for more details.

Can we have bands or DJ’s play at our event?

Yes – of course. We are very proud of how our room sounds and love to have amazing music in our facility. We have a large community of great musicians, artists, and entertainers from a large array of genres we can suggest for your event. All entertainment to be approved by the Hollywood Theatre.

Is the Hollywood Theatre wheel-chair accessible friendly?

Yes – the street level main floor of the Hollywood Theatre is wheelchair accessible with a designated area for wheel chairs with a great view of the stage and cinema screen, plus a main floor accessible washroom.

Do I need to provide event insurance?

Insurance is required for most every event. Please contact Hollywood Theatre management who can discuss this and help coordinate your event insurance.

Do I need to pay a damage deposit?

Yes – a damage deposit is required for every event. The amount of deposit depends on the type and scope of each event. Please contact us for details.

Can I bring in my own production team?

Hollywood Theatre has a world-class team of production professionals who work out of our facility. You may bring in your own equipment if it complies with our technical specifications. Labour and rigging must be provided by the Hollywood Theatre team with a Hollywood Theatre technical liaison(s) present for the duration of your event.

What technical equipment does the Hollywood Theatre have?

What Furniture is included with my rental?

Our main furniture setup includes a limited number of custom tables, chairs, bar tables and stools. Some furniture layouts and adjustments may result in additional moving and rental costs.

What are the catering options?

Catering can be arranged in-house by Hollywood Theatre from one of the many diverse catering companies we work with. From canapés, to action food stations, to customized buffets and plated dinners, we look forward to working with you on creating the best catering option for your event. More info

Do you have parking?

Hollywood Theatre has no parking other than metered street parking available along West Broadway and the vicinity of the venue. We ask patrons to not park in or interfere with designated local residents permit parking areas. Hollywood Theatre can arrange a Vehicle Valet service for a fee to the event producer.

Is smoking or vaping allowed?

Hollywood Theatre is a non-smoking venue. Smoking is not permitted inside or outside in front of the theatre.

Can we bring in or supply our own alcohol?

No. Hollywood Theatre is a liquor-primary licensed facility and all alcohol must be purchased through our license and served by our service staff. In some cases where your event/festival has a specific sponsor we will do our best to arrange with the liquor company to feature their product at your event.

Are minors allowed in the Hollywood Theatre?

No. Hollywood Theatre is a 19+ venue. 

What is Included in my venue rental?

Manager on duty for the entirety of your event
Technician on duty (up to 8 hours)
House Sound and Lighting Systems (including our world class D&B line array sound system and intelligent lighting system)
Basic post event cleaning
Bar staff as required
Event Security host (up to 4 hours)

Applicants must be 19 years or older, have a valid up-to-date British Columbia Serving It Right Certificate and valid documents to reside and work in Canada.

Applications will be reviewed and suitable applicants will be contacted for interview(s).
